The sole objective of the centre is to encourage the classical arts of Kerala which attributes and acknowledge the phrase of their culture and to do it so they regularly discover new skills and recover them with the standard of guidance and benevolent instruction. History of Kathakali

If one wish to know about its history and elements than he or she must need to understand ancient rituals because the long description regarding its origin and nature could be well understood from it.

It is generally a pre historic dance form and its description can be trace from other similar dance forms which is believed to have found their meaning within the land of Kerala. As per the folklore it was in 17th century when Rajah of Kottarakkara initiated the programme which was based on the great Hindu epic Ramayana and it was during that time when the play was characterised in Malayalam style and from then Kathakali came out as an individual dance form but if you look at its history it dates back to the time when William Shakespeare was writing his plays.

You will be amaze to see them in colourful attire, dramatic make over and sensual eye movements along with their hands and feet which looks to enact the scene through their expression and many a time they have done it and the most remembered amongst all are their lyrical expression of Mahabharata and Ramayana.

Relation with Culture

It would be an injustice if we fail to talk about its relation with Kerala culture because it was from here when this individual dance form found its meaning. It was during 2nd century when ancestors of Gods own country developed this dance form and perfected it to make it their integral part and with the phase of time they improvised their skills and in 17th century they used this dance form to incite the story of Hindu epic and from then it is continuously growing and today with the heritage and centuries of reformation this dance form is stately art of kerala.

Portraying an act of god

It looks to perform an act and expression of god through their steps and the attire along with those vibrant colours they use is meant to crystallise the art of expression which sometime goes gentle and sometime reflects hegemony of god over evil.

Importance

Relating spiritual protocol and chronological prodigy the dance form is ardently one of the most important dance forms of the country and with its growing popularity it many have joined the centre to practice and perfect the skills.
